Sean McMeekin and Mladen Joksic

Sean McMeekin is a history professor at Koç University in Turkey. He is the author of several books, including July 1914: Countdown to War, The Russian Origins of the First World War, and The Berlin-Baghdad Express: The Ottoman Empire and Germany’s Bid for World Power.

McMeekin’s research interests include modern German and Russian history, communism, and World War I.

Mladen Joksic is Associate Director of Foundation Relations at the Council on Foreign Relations.
