Nigel Biggar

Nigel Biggar is Regius Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology at the University of Oxford, where he also directs the McDonald Centre for Theology, Ethics, and Public Life. He is the author of In Defence of War (2013) and Between Kin and Cosmopolis: An Ethic of the Nation (2014), and he is currently preparing a book entitled What’s Wrong with Rights? In the press he has written on the Iraq war for the Financial Times and on the United Kingdom’s military action against the Islamic State in Syria for the Times of London. Biggar has lectured at the Royal College of Defence Studies, London; the U.K. Defence Academy, Shrivenham; the Centre for Historical Analysis and Conflict Research, Camberley; the U.S. Military Academy, West Point; the National Defense University, Washington, D.C.; and the Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr, Hamburg.
