Jeffrey D. Sachs

Jeffrey D. Sachs is university professor and director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, where he directed the Earth Institute from 2002 until 2016. He is also director of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and a commissioner of the UN Broadband Commission for Development. He has been special advisor to three UN secretaries-general and currently serves as a Sustainable Development Goals Advocate under UN Secretary-General António Guterres. TIME magazine twice named him among its one hundred most influential people, and the Economist ranked him among the top three most influential living economists. The author of many books and articles, his most recent work is A New Foreign Policy: Beyond American Exceptionalism (2018).
