Christian Barry is deputy director of the Research School of Social Sciences (RSSS) and is a senior lecturer in the School of Philosophy at the Australian National University.

He is coauthor, with Sanjay G. Reddy, of International Trade and Labor Standards: A Proposal for Linkage (2008), and coeditor, with Thomas Pogge, of Global Institutions and Responsibilities: Achieving Global Justice (2005) and, with Barry Herman and Lydia Tomitova, of Dealing Fairly with Developing Country Debt (2007).

He produces the online audio broadcast Public Ethics Radio and, between 2003 and 2007, was editor of the Carnegie Council’s journal, Ethics & International Affairs.

Barry is a Global Ethics Fellow at the Carnegie Council.


Nicholas Southwood is Junior Research Fellow at Jesus College, Oxford, and Assistant Professor in the School of Philosophy at the Research School of Social Sciences, Australian National University. He works mainly in moral and political philosophy, with a special focus on practical reason and normativity. He is the author of Contractualism & the Foundations of Morality, and articles in Ethics, Nous, Philosophical Studies, and elsewhere.
