Alejandra Mancilla

Alejandra Mancilla is associate professor in practical philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Oslo. She is leading a three-year research project entitled “Political Philosophy Looks to Antarctica,” which aims to explore the normative grounds of claims over land and natural resources in the last continent. She is also interested in the justification of basic rights, especially the right to subsistence, which she takes up in The Right of Necessity: Moral Cosmopolitanism and Global Poverty (2016). Her articles have appeared in the Journal of Political Philosophy, the Journal of Applied Ethics, CRISPP, and Grotiana, among others.
